Handmade in the USA, these collectible, fused-glass ornaments come in a wide range of seasonal designs. The traditional Christmas Bell design on this piece is a holiday classic. To create the ornament's design, enamel pigments are hand-applied onto a layer of glass using a series of complex stencils. The glass is then kiln-fired at over 1,500-Degree Fahrenheit, permanently fusing the pigments and glass together. Each ornament is signed by Peggy Karr Studio, includes a satin cord for hanging, and comes in a white gift box. Ornament measures approximately 3-1/4-inch square by 1/8-inch thick. Okay, so it IS a Bug, and it is CUTE too. This is the second red VW bug item that I bought for my granddaughter.One is a 4 x 4 inch ceramic tile, also a red bug, and this one, which is for her Christmas tree. It arrived in the mail less than an hour ago. Well packaged, not broken, and this is not as fragile as I thought it might be. It is fairly thick melted clear glass with the enamel colors melted into the square body. It sort of looks like it is bringing the tree home in a snow storm, which is perfect symbol of the Massachusetts climate around Christmastime.I realize this is a specific theme, there might not be that many red VW Bugs in the entire U.S. of A., but it gives the comic feeling of a Herbie car. It should last for many years, bringing a smile to the face of my granddaughter long after the real car is no longer her mode of transportation. Nobody forgets their first car, just like their first love.So Happy Holidays with a little bit of a nostalgic smile. I wish my first car had been this cute!!
